Why is Refrigerant Banned?
Industry and environmental groups in the United States are pushing for a ban on the use of R410A in new home and commercial air conditioning units starting January 1, 2025.
- The GWP of
R410a is 2088, 1725 times that of carbon dioxide, which is similar to R22. The freon contained in R410A will destroy the atmospheric ozone layer and increase the global temperature, so it is prohibited to use
- R410A is a new type of environmentally friendly refrigerant, which is composed of R32 (difluoromethane) and R125 (pentafluoroethane) according to the proportion of 50% of the mass fraction. According to the classification of refrigerant safety grades, the safety level of R32 is A2L, the safety level of R125 is A1, and the safety level of R410A is A1, which is a mixed working medium with no combustion, no explosion and little toxicity. Mainly used in household air conditioning, small and medium-sized commercial air conditioning (small and medium-sized unit air conditioning, household central air conditioning, multi-line), mobile air conditioning, dehumidifier, freezer dryer, Marine refrigeration equipment, industrial refrigeration and other refrigeration equipment.
- The ODP of R410a is 0 and does not consume ozone; However, its GWP is high, 1725 times that of carbon dioxide, which is similar to R22, so R410A is not the ultimate environmentally friendly refrigerant solution.
warm reminder: there are a lot of fake refrigerants, and the purchase of refrigerants must not be greedy for low prices, but must buy well-known big brands.JG®brand refrigerant, you are trustworthy.
